Appropriate advertising

Vocaroo is supported entirely by Google Ads which are shown on media playback pages. For the most part, Google does a good job at targeting advertisements appropriately, and Vocaroo does not have any reliable way to detect and remove ads when media is accessed from an educational institution.

If you wish to have a completely ad-free Vocaroo, a possible solution is for your network administrator to block all requests to the Google advertising domain: pagead2.googlesyndication.com

Deleting recordings and user data

Recordings can be deleted using the delete button underneath a recording. This is available when viewing media in the same web browser that it was created in, provided the web browser's local storage has not been cleared. Otherwise, recordings will automatically be deleted if they are not accessed for a period of some months.

Since Vocaroo does not link recordings in any way to any personally identifying information, it is not possible to request all recordings relating to an individual to be deleted.

However, if there are specific recordings that you would like removed, you may send a deletion request to contact@vocaroo.com. Please send all such requests from an email address associated with your school or institution for the highest priority attention.

FERPA/COPPA/etc

Since Vocaroo has no login system or user profile facilities, it is not possible to know if a user is a child or not. However, as a rule Vocaroo collects as little information as possible from all users, irrespective of age.
